Chapter 25. Missing Companion and Descent into the Sewers

Dorina immediatly set out to do what any thief who had been warned to stay away would do- she started poking around. Though the heart was mysteriously lost (Bad Ibas!), she nevertheless began questioning merchants around the city regarding the knife that had been used to stab the heart into her door. Though Sabi and Aiden were still quite drunk, and Ortus was unwilling to accompany her, Ibas followed her through the city- well, at least up until the point he was kidnapped by an unknown party. Dorina didn't fair much better- after following a lead through several arms merchants who seemed to know more than they were telling, Dorina became frustrated and threatened one. Unfortunately, it turned out she threatened the wrong one, and the merchant held her at knife point and demanded a large quantity of gold. When Dorina refused to cough up the money, the merchant summoned the guards, stating the halfling had stolen money from him.

The guards searched Dorina, and though the allegedly stolen money was nowhere on her, the coin with the mysterious symbol was easily discovered. The guards immediately arrested Dorina, hauling her off to prison. During this time, Sabi and Aiden (who were still slightly drunk) set out to follow Dorina, accompanied by Bastious. While their search proved somewhat amusing to passer-bys, it proved rather fruitless.

Fortunatly for Dorina, another thief had been captured by the guards and also thrown into prison. The Tiefling Warlock, Etyrnia, had friends who proved to be much more reliable than Dorina's (though at the same time, much more incompetent). The Tiefling's friends broke into the prison, and destroyed it- or at least one of the tables. They managed to subdue the guards and free the prisoners, then retreated to the safety of their hideout. Dorina followed along, but an altercation at the hideout ended poorly for a few of her rescuers. Dorina left the gang and returned to the inn, reuniting with Ortus (and later the rest of the party). After sobering up, and realizing that Ibas had been kidnapped (and not killed), the party set out into the sewers (telling Sabi they had a lead that led through the sewers). Without wasting another moment, the group descended into the depths of the sewers...
