The Scarlet Monastery
The Scarlet Monastery is the name given to the temple of
Wee Jas in
Aspenwood. This multi-level building has a large entrance area and main worship area. Further in the back is a meditation chamber, where priests of the Ruby Goddess contemplate their deity's wishes. A library attached to the side houses many volumes of necromantic lore and magical theories, as is befitting the goddess of Magic and Death. A cloister situated between the meditation chamber and library contains a small courtyard for quiet contemplation and study as well.
The Inner Cloister
Above the main worship area is the room housing the crusaders' round table, accessed by a staircase from the meditation chamber. It is here that the clerics of Wee Jas hold important meetings and debates. As one of the few sanctuaries in the land where one can study the darker magics, the priests constantly have to be on the lookout for undue discrimination, and it is at the crusaders' round table where they decide how to respond or retaliate.
Beneath the monastery, accessed by a secret door, lies a vast network of catacombs and crypts. The priests of Wee Jas perform some of their more vile ceremonies here, as well as dark rituals and wicked experiments with the dead and undead.
One of the head priestesses of the Monastery is the cleric Gertrude, who, like many of her Wee Jas compatriots, employs undead in her machinations. She has not been seen recently, though...
